It was not easy refusing to serve synthetic "fruit juice" to the kids in my class. It took even more effort to face my principal and show her the evidence. She was graceful and we made that change. Now the entire County has adopted the "no synthetic fruit" initiative.
The Rosemount vending machine wars lasted 4 years and a couple of months. Sensibility and reason won. The machines were removed and so was a School Superintendent. The children won. My children won We all won. It was not easy, but well worth it.
I am never confrontational and that has helped me. I like to talk and little wonder I ended up in your mouth. I have seen children who's lives will never be the same because of the marketing of unhealthy drinks and other products. That is why I am an advocate and I will never back down from this battle.
